This program provides child safety seats to low-income and economically disadvantaged families. To be eligible for a reduced cost, convertible, child safety seat, the following requirements must be met.
  • A child is no less than 5 pounds, and no more than 30 pounds for a convertible car seat.
  • The family is determined to be at 185% or less of the federal poverty income guidelines. WIC clients are automatically eligible.
  • The parent/guardian must attend a one hour educational class on the proper use and installation of a child safety seat.
  • The parent/guardian has a vehicle with working safety belts for transportation of the child and brings the vehicle to the class.
  • The parent/guardian agrees to properly use their safety belts, every time they ride in the vehicle.
